This is lovely!  The girls are so sweet to each other leading up to the ending.  And I was hoping, begging, for Augustus to escape the coop, the poor baby. 😭

This was sooo good! The art is just so cute and lovely, Auriame especially. The style and presentation is just so nice, even the backgrounds are so pretty. I really enjoyed the two girls' relationship, and all the vampyre scenes are just perfect. I was really enthralled.

Heavensent is a heartfelt game with adorable characters, interesting world building, and complicated connections.

It's a story told with such care and ease that it takes a while before you realize you're a frog in a pot it's been heating up steadily... But by that point, you're hooked and just gotta know what comes next.

The character design, clothing, and architecture are all stunning! I'm really awed with how much was done as just one person over the course of a month while maintaining the quality of each aspect. My favorite girl is definitely Zoe, but Augustus gives her a run for her money. 🐔

Very engaging read that honestly made it pretty hard to guess where it would go next, which I think is a rare trait in short stories like this. The plot structure and pacing in general were great. I’m a big fan of plots that twist around with each small action, eventually leading to an end result that feels like the only possible outcome given what led up to it which only makes the unpredictable of the ending more impressive. I also loooove historic settings too (especially with fantasy elements mixed in) and the art really carried the vibe of that along nicely.

this is such a fun game! it was so fun seeing the snippets i saw in the jam discord come together into an actual game

i played it with a friend and we were so hooked by the writing and artstyle and catholic guilt inherent to the premise. every so often while reading we'd stop and go "wow that is such a good way of describing that" and we were so intrigued by like, the mystery behind odette being turned. her bloodlust moments were written extremely well and the final chapter had us on the edge of our seats!

thank you so much for making this, i'm so proud of you for finishing and making a fantastic game especially after how much stress it seemed to cause you!

how DARE you.... how darling this is.... what an engrossing, gorgeously charming story- i found myself pleasantly, heartwringing-ly shocked. the real and flawed ways odette and auriame interact with not only each other but the world around them - i appreciated this especially during moments of white lies - those little pains! - then seeing their reasonings to keep going, pushing each other in a way... augh! oh no!!! how could you do this to me!! it's perfect!!! this was a real treat. cannot wait to see what else you do.

My head felt like it was spinning after finishing chapter 3. I loved the tension and the guilt Odette had and it made her struggles feels very, very real. The ties to Christianity and the main story with the girls I felt was really well done too! If you made a sequel, about Odette's life after, I would love to read it.

It's really good.

It's a game I kept thinking about even when I wasn't playing it. It manages to deliver in both beating you down with how dreary things get while also exuding such confidence that it absolutely earns its more cheesy scenes. The way it balances intrigue and drama is a thing of wonder.

I adore how the fairy tale aesthetics extend to the storytelling itself, with it feeling very much like an old tale. It takes a fairly basic setting and concept and makes it fresh by not holding itself back when it goes for the darker scenes.

The two main girls are beautifully complex. You can relate to their struggles, understand what they are going through and really get where they are coming from, while also cursing at them for their short-sightedness and the terrible things they do.

Really enjoyed the music here, too. They are all royalty-free songs, but there was real care in choosing tracks that not only fit the mood, but also enhance it and make it all the easier to be pulled into this emotional rollercoaster of a journey.

It's a raw story. It gets violent, it gets sexual and it gets depressing, but it does all that without coming across as cheap. It hits you where it hurts, and it's a pain that's not quite healed yet ever since finishing it.

Simply fantastic.

wow thank you so much for such a thoughtful review!! I’m honestly at a total loss for words but I appreciate it so much, and I’m glad to see that a lot of what I was aiming for came across ;;w;; <3

I can't even begin to describe how much I loved this!! Everything from the art to the music selection and the writing were amazing, count me as a huge fan!!

as an ex-catholic, who daydreams constantly about catholic all-girls boarding school yuri, this was an absolute treat. love your stuff! very excited for more from you! :D

Private school yuri is always fun to me because of historical interest in the genre, and I was looking forward to this VN since seeing your early dev screenshots. The art is so beautiful, and there's so Much of it. The description of the school growing over time with the newer and ancient parts is perfect.

The backgrounds are beautiful, and the bullying of Auriame was very painful and her reactions to it. She really is a sweetheart. Also, Theo's second letter describing this situation is perfection to me (though he sucks really bad).

The entire VN was extremely well made!! I really loved reading it!!!

A really beautiful story that resonated alot with my wife and I. Highly recommend this one!!

lovely art style! i really appreciated how flawed and human the characters felt, also. bad actions really don’t often lead to consequences…

This was wonderful. The illustrations are gorgeous!

From the art style alone I knew I was in for a good time, but holy hell this story was amazing. My heart was pounding all the way through and I cried like never before. 10/10.

This whole game filled me with a rising sense of tension, it felt like the world was getting smaller and smaller as the story went on and all of the lies began to stack up. The characters felt very real and even though I could see the writing on the wall, I found myself hoping it would turn out differently than I expected right up until the end.

Heavensent" is a hauntingly tender visual novel with gorgeous art, evocative writing, and emotionally complex characters. Odette and Auriame’s story lingers long after the credits — a beautifully bittersweet debut that hits hard and stays soft.

Waited patiently for this one to release and the payoff was worth it!

Other commenters have covered much of what I loved here, but one thing that really struck me was the realistic dynamics between characters, especially early in the story. The way Odette went along with Zoe's group just because they shared the most class time together... School forces people into close contact with people they might never otherwise brush shoulders with, and your depiction of that was spot on.

The general level of detail and polish is also commendable. Undertaking a large project like this (alone!) while still caring for the small things that contribute to general effect is a real achievement.

thank you so much!! also yeah… idk why I decided my first vn should be 20k words when I worked on it alone, but thankfully I finished it in the end (coding took way longer than I expected LOL)

Thank you for reading!! 👼

I read this a little  bit ago but I really, REALLY loved it and had such a good time reading through this :,3 I'm deeply attached to these two gals and will think of them forever

thank u!! it means a lot waaaaah ;;w;;

I enjoyed this one so much! I really liked your take on vampyres and how slow transition is, it’s such a great way to have a steady build up of tension throughout the story. The descriptions of Odie’s perception of Auriame whenever she’s hungry is so so good. Loved it. All of the art is so well made, the whole presentation is top notch, I’m shocked that this is your first visual novel, it’s just amazing. I’m so excited to see what you make next and into the future!

thank you so much!!! I’m also excited to make more :)

Really incredible stuff! From the first art you posted I had been patiently waiting to read this and it did not disappoint!

I won't go into spoiler territory but I loved the way this game was divided into concise chapters, it really made it feel like I was reading a Grimm's fairytale book of sorts.

If this is your first game then you've got an incredible future ahead of you!

god, god, god.

everything about this novel was so beautiful and perfect. im absolutely a huge sucker for religious trauma, and you captured it so perfectly here. so many moments were tugging at my heart, leaving me almost breathless at times. i tried to tell myself that i didnt know what was coming, but i did. and it left such an impact on me. you wrote this so, so well.

i also really appreciated your little ending notes, its inspired me even further to want to create something. thank you for taking the time in your life to create something so gorgeously done.

Avoiding to read the tags of Itch.io's visual novels is the best worst mistake of my life. Oh woe is me! No guardian angel could have prepared me for that gut-wrenching ending. The angst that reading through every new chapter gave me was priceless.

Will I gush about this story to my friends? Abso-bloody-lutely!
